Stuff I have made a mess (of) and otherwise still organizing

Chaos is just a part of my world.

Everything is subject to change at a moments notice, which is why I write in pencil and make lists.  I am fickle.

The lists are pasted into my journal.  Doodads and photos I find that I thought were lost.  Grocery receipts, tea bag names I want to remember,

wish lists and dates that my tulips opened.  It is not pretty. It is not full of beauty or colors.  I don’t know if it is acid free or if I fastened it with a tiny tacker

or a Swingline.

* Stuff to remember to do: is right next to the  splat of apricot marmalade that I was enjoying while waiting for the kettle to boil.

I asked for sand delivery on Thursday, not Friday. I KNOW because we were supposed to have a “every man for himself” dinner which includes leftovers,

sandwiches and or a one pot side dish; but because the community clean up was on Saturday, I did not want the family to overdose on sodium filled hotdogs that they

serve after the cleanup is finished. I paid too much for my watercolor pencils, wished for Prisma’s I never use and have not drawn one of Dar’s Girls

* There is a note to ask The Hubbs what do Swedes use for moth balls.  I have not seen any moth balls since I have been here. (no need to share his obnoxious

reasons about why Swedes don’t have time or inclination to castrate little moths 😛 ). There is note to reread about the beautiful notebooks IHanna made.  I  made a note

of the date so I could go back and study it and also because I have now added pink, turquoise and brown to my favorite colors.  Sweden has that kind of effect on you.

While you know  what is going on, available and rushing past you in the speed of life, you can turn it off.  I can sit on my deck at 4:00 am with a cup of coffee and read

in the daylight. I may see a fox or a deer go by.  I can kick myself for leaving my career for a chance on the unknown that did not pay off almost 10 years ago.  OR

I can live this life I have right now.  With acid and lignin. Without more doodads.   Without fear.   But with love and determination.

I press on.

Some things were in need of fixin ’round here.

Early in March, while working on a birthday card for a daughter’s friend, I discovered a Scrabble tile was lodged in my printer. I shook, dug, cursed, pleaded and even tried vacuuming it out…to no avail. Finally, desperate, I called for back up. The Hubbs then proceeded to stick his beefy hands inside the roller and I heard the unforgiving crack of plastic and I yelled ” nevermind”  I truly hate giving up.  It took me 2 days to sort through thousands of links for schematics. I even bought what I thought was a manual for service and got ripped off for $3.00.   I figured it was a toss up. I could try and dismantle it myself and tear it up, or I could take it to a shop, they would rip me off and I would end up buying a new all-in-one WHICH I could not afford, or want.

Armed with a diagrammed layout for “SERVICE PROFESSIONALS” I began taking it apart.  I was intimidated, to say the least, but I had nothing to lose except the Big Bite, daubbers and new Fiskars cutter I was salivating over.  Armed with only my tools (pretty flowered ones, lol)  I had at it.  At one time, the non-handy Hubbs came in and said something encouraging that cannot be repeated here. 🙂 after 2 hours, and about 20 photographs, I HAD MY MAN!!! THE LETTER “J” (funny, the kids name had no J in it, so duh?)

Sweating profusely, I asked my husband to start dinner, as I need to finish putting Greta back together. I was on a mission and could not be distracted by something as petty as dinner. ( did I mention he was NOT a happy camper, oh well…).

I started backtracking through the photos, replacing screws, plastic bits and wires until I thought I was finished…well, I had one small screw left and a clear plastic thingy that goes over the paper slot in the back when you are not using it..(deemed unnecessary by me if it worked!).

I plugged Large Marge in. She booted up, I loaded paper, and found something to test print  and VOILA!!! I was on FIRE!!!!! I was ecstatic that I, one who is afraid of electricity: unplugs appliances that are not being used; user of kill switches on plug strips, etc.  I had gone where no man had gone before (in our house, atleast) and FIXED SOMETHING ON MY OWN!!!  I was THE MAN!  THE BIG CHEESE, THE BIG KAHUNA, EL JEFE GRANDE!!! and I basked in my own glory, as only I could ( bwahahah!)!

Not to be out done, The Hubbs then tries his hand at the DVD player which had gone on the kaput just as the 1 year warranty went on it.  He not only managed to fix it, but fixed the feeds on the DVR/satellite now we can watch, program and record different things simultaneously…( I was impressed, but gave credit to my inspiring performance with the printer mission! ) 😉

Now. I was feeling my Cheerios.

I was ready for the big league.  The “office” was literally mine, but the Hubbs’ unused desk was still here, taking up valuable real estate by the coveted window. I wanted that space and that window. My big girl panties were washed and dried from the previous mission.  I rearmed myself and started tossing stuff.  I had no help, except for the trickerheading of number one son to “help”with the connecting of the computer. The picture is not clear, but you see the magnitude of the job.  IT took me a month to sort, separate and move all of the shelving around.  I printed box and bin labels out with MS word pad and taped them on their respective boxes and shelves, so I know where to find everything.  the only loss was the space for my home made hang it up.  Need to remove some artwork, then remount.  So, now you know why I have not been creating anything except a mess.  Feels so good to be settled.

Hello My Dear,

After waiting and no response was heard, I deposited and also paid for the delivery fee of your $500 000.00 thousand US Dollars,as consignment box to CARDINAL SECURITY COMPANY in Abuja

Nigeria, I want you to contact the CARDINAL SECURITY COMPANY to know how to make the payment for insurance and when they will be delivering your consignment.

I have paid for the delivery charges also demurrage charges, the only fee you will pay them is the Insurance fee which they would pay the Insurance department.

THE INSURANCE FEE (US$270) IS ABSOLUTELY COMPULSORY, AND MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE SHIPMENT OF YOUR PARCEL WHILE THE DEMURRAGE FEE SHOULD BE PAID TO THE DELIVERY AGENT THAT WILL DELIVER YOUR PARCEL TO YOUR DOORSTEP). Due to the diplomatic content of your consignment, it will be illegal to ship it without being insured as it will violate the federal delivery rules governing diplomatic parcel delivery. This means payment for the insurance fee must be made before shipment to avoid risk. This is because of some bad experience we had in the past.

God Jul och Gött Nytt År!

Merry Felicidads and Glad Tidings.

After an exhausting trip, having to work 10 hours a day to help catch up, I finally have time to enjoy a blog and a beer in that order, lol!

Sorry to all of my friends and associates that I promised to shop with, see, call, visit…et al, when I arrived in the US, but I spent nearly everyday with my mom at the nursing home.  I would get up early and try to find her something interesting for lunch.  I bought her things that I did not know that she needed.   ( SIDEBAR: Did you know that adult diapers are not counted as part of the reimbursement expenses for medical care, because incontinence is not seen as a “problem” ?  Many of the seniors cannot qualify for Medicare, becasue they were Government workers that had to pay into their OWN private pension plans, lots of them that have fallen  off the face of the earth which leaves the elderly in a state of limbo… My mom has lost a lot of weight but her motor skills are not as sharp as they used to be…her mind has improved greatly, so it is a trade off.   There were so many people that had no visitors.  I took small mints around to some of the residents and they were so grateful!  A box of mini candy canes from Target went a long way, and it was the best investment I made.   If you know someone in a nursing or eldercare home, please don’t forget them.  They would love to have plants, magazines, small skin care items but most of all, just some company to break up the monotony.    I took my 3 nieces, and so many neighbors came in to say hi, just because there were loud, happy young people near by.  Nana loved seeing her grand kids and that was the most rewarding part of my trip.  The staff seemed caring and I was glad for that, but I did manage to help arrange a home health aid and PT 5 days a week 6 hours a day´.  Let us see if everyone does their part.

If you have supportive family and enjoy good health, you need to be thankful.

No art, as the desk is a mess.  Off to see the wizard and all of my bloggy friends.

*Peace on Earth, Good will towards the elderly.*

Spam is the Devil’s work…

Not for the hypertensive!

Not for the hypertensive!

Not the kind you fry and eat on bread, but the kind that attempts to relieve you of your bread!  A certain Very Mary blogger was the recipient of some lovely spam that had me laughing out loud…till today, when I find I am also challenged emotionally and to deal with my own precarious situation… EXIBIT A

From Mrs Susan Morgan
N[38 Rue Des Martyrs Cocody
Abidjan,Cote d’Ivoire
ATTN
DEAREST ONE OF GOD

I am the above named person from Kuwait. I am married to Mr.Abram Morgan,(present tense) who worked with Kuwait embassy in Ivory Coast for nine years before he died in the year 2004.(Past tense) We were married for eleven years without a child.(osexual tension) He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days.( why did it take so long to contact me…? )

Before his death we were both born again Christian.( what were you before that?) Since his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against.( Well if he is dead, how will you parent or concieve a child?…I’m only a masters candidate…you gotta help me with this one…?) When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $2. 5 Million (Two Million Five Hundred U.S. Dollars) in the bank here in Abidjan in suspense account. ( a suspense account?)  I worked for Chase Manhattan and never heard of a suspense account…maybe there is a surprise in store when you open it? further more…the suspense is encored when you OPEN an account with that much cash!)

Presently, the fund is still with the bank. Recently, my Doctor told me that i have serious sickness which is cancer problem. ( EXcuse moi…but, if you are going to hit someone up for money, at LEAST be grammatically correctI diplore incorrect usage of the Queen’s language…lol! ) The one that disturbs me most is my stroke sickness ( note: I can sympathize with this, as my Australian crawl leaves a LOT to be desired!) . Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a church or individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct herein. I want a church that will use this fund for orphanages, widows, propagating the word of God and to endeavour that the house of God is maintainedEditors note: any funds left to the church of Buy, bought and altered Art will be distributed amongst the membership to promote understanding through their God given talents…I can’t promise anything else” ed..

The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I don’t have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don’t want my husband’s efforts to be used by unbelievers. I don’t want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way. This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence i know where I am going.( I hate to expedite her departure, but the 6:30 pm coach to Hell is always PACKED!  Old girl better get a move on or she’ll be standing the entire ride!) I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the Lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace.

I don’t need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health hence the presence of my husband’s relatives is around me always I don’t want them to know about this development.( That is a good thing, because my international service is too expensive!  Let’s just keep this between you and me…and our little emails…) With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the bank here in Abidjan. I want you and the church to always pray for me because the Lord is my shepherd. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life. (What about being truthful?…or does the good book not cover that?  And if a girl is indeed a member of a good christian church, WHY does she not contact them directly instead of fishing out little old me on the internet…

Contact me on the above e-mail address for more information’s,(information’s…why do I get the feeling that something is not entirely kosher with this ladies movives…spelling be damned!) any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another church or individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your reply(sure you right, Nana!).

Remain blessed in the Lord.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs susan morgan..
